GRUPO CAPOEIRA BRASIL was founded in January, 14th 1989, in Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro by Mestres Boneco (RJ) Paulinho Sabia (Niteroi - RJ) and Paulao (CE). Previously integrants of Grupo Senzala, the three Masters received the blessing to form the group from great names in Capoeira - Mestres Suassuna, Itapoãn, João Pequeno, Peixinho, Gato, Ezequiel among others.

Grupo Capoeira Brasil is constantly updating its movements and songs to keep in touch with ongoing developments in the world of Capoeira. All the new moves, songs, and facts researched are discussed and carefully analysed by the Masters before being introduced to the students. It is only when the masters believe that the game will be enhanced that the new elements are introduced.

Grupo Capoeira Brasil strongly respects the traditions, folklore and fundamentals of Capoeira but is always striving to mix a unique style of traditional and contemporary movements and philosophies to create a more graceful and dynamic art.
